The history of Avantes distillery starts on 1963, by Vassileios Katsos and his brother Spyros obtaining the official operating license. The distillery was located in Chalkida town center, across the sea, very close to the beach. At this busy meeting point, Chalkideans were enjoying our distillery’s products: ouzo, wine, cognac, vermouth.

In the course of time our distillery was systematically involved with the production and standardization of ouzo, liquer and cognac, under the branding label of AVANTES, in our new business premises in Drosia-close to Chalkida town.

In 2005, AVANTES distillery passes into the hands of Chara Katsou (oenologist, daughter of Vassileios). Fully modernizing the business facilities and creating innovative products, she continues the family tradition with consistency, know-how and passion.

Location - Euboea


The tribal name of «AVANTES» was brought by the inhabitants of Euboea during the bronze age. The privileged location of Evia defines it as a land island with temperate and healthy climate that contributes to the area vegetation. The winds of the Aegean Sea meet with the untamed breeze of Evian gulf and crossing the leafy, with pine trees – FIR – rare herbs, mountain ranges, spread on saltines.

Our sole purpose is to reclaim selected raw materials in their pure and natural form, focusing on collaborations with certified growers from the most appropriate areas.

We combine expertise with tradition, in order to achieve our commitment for placing on the market of constant quality products.


We choose the responsible activation in our business section, with innovative and 100% natural products without artificial additives.
Our family secret is the passion for the different, the obsession for quality.

Production

Raw materials – Extraction-distillation-Standardization
The choice of raw materials is a continuous and persistent process. Throughout the year, in collaboration with certified growers, the harvest takes place, along with the selection and processing of ingredients that form the basis for the creation of our products.

Grapes from varieties of superior quality.
Seeds and spices from appropriate areas.
Herbs of the Greek land.

Citrus and all sorts of fruits, selected one by one, at the right time in order to offer us the best aromas.

The primary aromas of fresh raw materials emerge with the processes of distillation and extraction, which require time and expertise.

The extraction of herbs, fruits and seeds in high-level alcohol captures the fragrant and flavorful qualities.

Distillation, which takes place in our traditional bronze distillation still, is the most important process. The slow boiling commingling – atomizer – liquefying born drop by drop our fine essences.

The correct separation of the distillate and the quality control carried out throughout the whole production is our commitment to consumer safety.

The essences stored and kept in appropriate warehouses, for as long as it is necessary, in order to give us the full bodied taste that we expect.

The final product is filtered, in special type filter for each product, and formalized in high capacity automatic bottling machine – sealing – labeling.

The distillery is certified with quality management system ISO 9001: 2000 and ISO 22000: 2005

INNOVATION AWARD AND PACKAGING PRAISE

 

‘ Greece Holiday Flavors Spring 2015 ′ exhibition is completed. AVANTES DISTILLERY excelled for the quality, innovation and packaging of its products. The tasting expert group of “Athinorama
Umami ” yielded the innovation award in liquor spirit «CHEIMWNANTHOS» with 12 herbs of the Greek land and honey from thyme and FIR,  as well as a praise for the packaging of our distillery’s new 100% distilled OUZO.
Consumers who visited our stand had the opportunity to get to know and enjoy signature cocktails with GRATUS, CHEIMWNANTHOS and also our new liqueur Lemon as well as the new 100% on distilled OUZO.
We thank you for your positive comments and we are committed to always providing you with quality, unique and Greek beverage which will become tasting experience.

COCKTAILS

AVANTES DISTILLERY in collaboration with Bar Academy created 4 signature cocktails for enjoying your favorite beverage CHEIMWNANTHOS and GRATUS.  Our cocktails were presented for the first time in Technopolis in Gazi during the exhibition «Greece Flavors Festival Spring 2015 ″ and already created fashion

 

AEGEAN SPIRIT

Ingredients: 30ml Gratus, 40ml Mastic, 20ml fresh lemon juice

We shake all ingredients in a shaker and we serve with crushed ice, garnish with dried lemon and mint top

 

GRATUS CRUSTA

Ingredients:  30 ml Gratus, 40ml brandy,10 ml fresh lemon juice, 10ml pink grapefruit fresh juice, 20 ml sugar syrup, 1 dash Angostura bitters

We shake all ingredients in a shaker and we serve with regular ice, garnish with orange oils and orange peel.
NEGROPONTE

Ingredients: 30 ml Cheimonanthos, 30 ml Gin,  30 ml Aperol.

We shake all ingredients in the mixing glass and we serve with regular ice, garnish with oils from pink grapefruit and pink grapefruit peel.

 

SEVEN OCEANS

Ingredients: 25 ml Cheimonanthos, 50 ml Vodka, 30 ml fresh lemon juice, 30 ml Green Apple syrup.

We shake all ingredients in a shaker and we serve with crushed ice.

We fill the glass to the top with Ginger Beer and garnish with dried Apple and slice of lemon

The “Greece, Feast, Tastes – Spring 2015” goes beyond the logic of
standardized food and drinks festivals that have held up
today. It includes exclusive Greek products, attends to
producers with high quality standards, and flanked by
many particularly interesting culinary events. It is
not just a celebration of Greek flavors but generally, a wider
Greek culture festival, in which the elite
creative Greece meets the large sensitized public
interested in the authentic local Greek flavors
which is intertwined over time with our national identity.

FESTIVAL GREECE HOLIDAY FLAVORS CHRISTMAS 2014

“Greece Holiday Flavors Christmas 2014” festival, once more organized by Athinorama magazine, is successfully completed.
Our distillery’s kiosk attracted hundreds of visitors who had the opportunity to try out and enjoy our products.
The reviews for our brand new priemium liqueurs were really impressive, giving us the trigger to keep on creating
quality innovative products for demanding consumers.  Feature point is the reference of Cheimonanthos liqueur in  Athinorama magazine’s Christmas
issue in the list of the 22 Christmas delis(see www.athinorama.gr).
